My son plays high school baseball. One of his best friends on the team is named Josh. Josh’s mom works for one of the airlines and gets to fly free all of the time. Jyg and I cozied up to watch the romantic comedy starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor, each known for their brilliant performances in the past - save the Star Wars prequels, of course. It's a different sort of take on the romantic comedy, by the way. In fact, it's refreshing to see something different in the genre that stars mainstream actors and doesn't have an underlining theme of prejudice.

The film is based on the book and real life account of con man, Steven Jay Russell. The story follows the many faces of Russell - from learning that he was adopted as a child to marrying a religious woman and working as a police officer to learning of the identity of his real mother to deciding to living his life as a openly gay man to starting his con business to finally meeting the love of his life, Phillip Morris.

I Love You Phillip Morris is filled with humor, love, and the right amount of drama. At times, it seems a little over the top, but it's to be expected from a Jim Carrey flick, right? While Jyg felt it was a bit odd too see Jim Carrey playing a homosexual, I found it fitting in his more serious comedic roles of late. His acting was superb, as was costar Ewan McGregor's.

Prepping to go and see The Nutcracker

I know that it seems a little bit early to be worrying about it, but I've already planned and booked tickets for my grandkids and I to go and see the local production of The Nutcracker. Tickets always sell out so early and when I've tried to order it in the past, it's already been sold out. I said, Not this year!

I thought that it would be good to let the grandkids know at Thanksgiving that I'm going to take them to see it, too! I think that they're going to be really excited when I tell them. When I was looking up some information for those tickets, I ran across some info onMiracle Ear and after I looked through it some I decided to go and get fitted with some hearing aids.

I'm glad that I did and I think that I'm going to be glad that I made that decision once I go to see the The Nutcracker ballet. I'm all about enjoying these special time with my grandkids and I hope that he feels the same way!

Fall break

There are a lot of things I love about fall. For instance, college football, the cooler weather, the baseball playoffs, and the fact that everything is made with some sort of pumpkin. I recently, just took out my fall coat from last year, which only reminded me that I needed to shed a few pounds before I start stuffing my face for Thanksgiving. While pulling out my coat I was also reminded that my wife told me that were spending Thanksgiving with her parents instead of mine. I would actually rather spending the holiday’s with her parents but she grew up about five hours from our house and it makes me uneasy to leave the house unattended for such a long period of time. Fortunately, my wife found security choice and now we have a great security system that can put my mind at ease for the entire holiday season. Now I just need to hop on the treadmill and try and get rid of this beer gut. I’m not excited about the treadmill but I sure do love the holiday’s!

Honestly, I don't know what is wrong with me. Many people claim that they absolutely hated the movie Pirahna 3-D. Throw some naked people into the water with some man-eating prehistoric cowkillers and suddenly it is a problem? Well, whatever! I loved this movie.

I love a good quasi-realistic horror movie. While prehistoric pirahna are a bit muchto believe, I do occasionally wonder what would happen if some nutcase unleashed a few thousand real pirahna into a popular tourist lake just for spite.

Save money with Direct TV. Literally the day after I got it the snow started and it has not stopped since. Luckily we got a few snow days for work so I was able to be a complete bum and sit on the couch and catch up on all my favorite shows, and even start watching a few new ones. I recently started watching the sitcom Cougar Town. My mom has been raving about it for a few months now and I had had caught a few minutes of here and there when I was over visiting but never really sat down to watch a whole episode. I wish I had started earlier! This show is one of the funniest things Currently on TV. The dialogue is hilarious and it has a great line up of actors. I was so excited to see Courtney Cox back in a neu! rotic comedic role. It seems to come so naturally for her and not only is it believable but really, really funny as well. Her character is similar to the one she played on friends but a little more crazy, if that is even possible. My favorite scenes are the ones with her son Travis. I love to watch late night television with my husband. However, with our work schedules it is almost impossible for us to watch them when they are broadcast. Either I am working the late shift or he is and we really like to watch them together. To solve this problem, we have started to use our DVR to record our favorite shows on Full HD Channels. We are still able to watch all of the programming we always have and now can do it at any time we want.

The DVR service we have allows us to record the same show each day for up to seven days. If we don't want to record the same show, it also allows us to record a couple of different shows. This is a great feature for us because we do watch a couple of different shows depending on who will be appearing on the show. It stores these shows for a certain amount of time or after you have recorded a certain amount of shows and then it will begin to erase them to make room for the new ones. We don't have to worry about tapes or CD's or other equipment, it is all hooked up into our box in the living room. It is very easy to use and now we can watch all of our favorite shows at anytime when we are together.

Just when I thought the world had been rid of Avril Lavigne, Maxim magazine had to resurrect her "hotness." I still disagree about her being hot, by the way. Wow, has it been nearly a year since the Chelsea Handler cover of Playboy? And wasn't Sasha Grey in that one, too? And it seems by fate that I would receive both Vladimir Nabokov's The Original of Laura - an excerpt of which was posted in that issue - a copy of Chelsea Handler's My Horizontal Life plus the October 2010 issue of Playboy featuring Sasha Grey on the cover. Damnit, I'm reliving the year 2009, aren't I?

I picked up the issue of Playboy the week after it hit newsstands - apparently, the good people of Barnes & Noble don't release magazines on release dates, holds them back (this isn't the first time, either). Either way, it was well worth it.

The October issues of every year are rather dear to me - the real reason I bought the issue was for the short story within - because it's the college writing contest. The winners are always published in the October issue and I like up-and-comings. I know a lot of people say they only buy the magazine for the articles, but in my case it's very true. You don't have to believe me, though.

A confused post

I'm a little confuse about what to write about right now. I know it's been some time since I actually blog something about the nature of this blog. I've been busy with A Book Hunter's Journal and the Tumblr blog - Tumblog? - that I've completely overlooked this one. My followers will forgive me, no?

Summer is over and so is the work at the stadium, leaving me wondering what I'm going to do now. I thought about it over, thinking about revamping the page. I'm either using going to use Blogger's latest template editor or I might even see if I can use flash because I read this Wix review and got me thinking. I'm not even sure how I'm going to go about it really. Or if I'll do it.

I've also been thinking about what to blog about, as well. Thoughts are like running rampant through my head. I started this blog as a tribute to the erotic arts, but lately it's been regurgitation of Nerve and my Google Reader, just linking and commenting on stuff. I blame work. I blame a lot of things.

I picked up Please, Sir earlier today and read the first story, "Anticipation" by Shanna Germain. Left me yearning for more, but reading the first story was just to top me off. I picked up The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide yesterday and I plan to read the entire book before returning back to work on Saturday. Wish me luck with that. I'm aware of how much of a nerd that makes me. But Douglas Adams came first (haha!) so Rachel Kramer Bussel will have to wait.

I've been thinking a lot about Sasha Grey's book, Neu Sex - out November 30 according to Amazon - pondering whether or not to pre-order it and just sit and wait. It's about twenty dollars at the moment, which is ten bucks off the cover price. I'm all about saving money. I'm also keeping my eyes on another book edited by Bussel - Crossdressing. That's the problem with me, when I'm under the weather - both physically and emotionally - I tend to start buying, buying, buying erotic novels and collections. Go figure.

Steven and I spoke about the film Piranha and how a porn star Riley Steele garnered a part in it. My philosophy about movies featuring porn stars aren't usually worth watching, but then again, there are always exceptions. I felt a little rusty when I learned that Miss Steele was in the film, mostly because I've been so far away from the pulse of the porn circuit, I didn't recognize the name. Which is both a good and a band thing. I'll let you figure out the reasons why.

As promised earlier this month, I purchased copies of Rachel Kramer Bussel's Please, Ma'am and Please, Sir - collection of erotica dealing with both male and female submission, respectively. Of course these lascivious collections are nothing without the John Cleland classic, Fanny Hill: Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure, which was thrown in to save this book hunter on shipping - yes, I know buying the latter book means I pay more than what I would've without it, but at least I can use the book rather than the abstract concept of shipping.

But backtracking to the world of bondage and strange sex - even though I hardly see bondage and submission as strange - a group of Taiwanese surgeons decided on electrocuting their penises to see the reaction the organ has on electricity. But if that doesn't give you the What-the-fuck effect, then you're probably curious about the end result; admit it, though, even if you're feeling the What-the-fuck effect, you're still curious.

Sasha Grey stirred some Twitter controversy about the nature of her bush when she appeared on an episode of Entourage. The porn star known for her role in last year's The Girlfriend Experience, responded, "A lot of bush comments after tonight's #Entourage episode. I really don't know much about Hayden Panettiere or why people find her so desirable. I just know that she tends to play the cheerleader part - a lot. Films like one of the Bring It On sequels (there's like forty of them at the time of this posting) and shows like Heroes, Panettiere fits the part of the squad girl. I also don't know much about Room 23 either, other than the fact that Hayden Panettiere took some photos for it. I'm not sexy. I've come to terms with that. Never will I be that guy who turns the heads of the runway models. Not that I'm looking to turn heads. I've got someone better than the anorexic divas that grace the pages of every magazine, pose for the television cameras. She smart and sexy - the perfect combination in a person. You can have the looks of a sex goddess, but if you don't have the brains of a fellow book worm, then you're pretty much out. Music's important, too. However, it's something I've come to ignore.

But I'll never be sexy. I learned that when I was in high school, trapped in a world where girls shoved me aside to speak to the chisel-chested boys who played with balls, wrestled each other in an almost homoerotic way - in short, boys who acted like boys. I didn't have a way with the women, either. Looks is only a small percentage when it comes to attraction, isn't it? Isn't that what magazines like Playboy and Maxim lead us to believe? The Book Hunter Goes Porn

I rarely do this but rather than just letting this blog die because I've been too occupied with work, I opted to write this post. Originally written for this blog, I felt it made more sense posting it over on a book blog. I mean, it only makes sense since it's not actually talking about pornography but books written by porn stars. Anyway, here's the post. Enjoy.

With a blog like Pure Lust Entraps, I stumble throughout the Internet looking for news of the erotic. Many of times, this leads me to the world of the adult industry - namely porn stars. While not all these finds are pornographic in nature - for instances, I did learn about Off the Set: Porn Stars and Their Partners, a book of photographs by Paulie and Pauline - they are still in the zone of the erotic.

There is a subtle line between the two that society seems to blur - by society, I mean the highly conservative mind controllers. Pornography may be erotic, but erotica is never pornographic. Everything within the art is set in gently - even the rough stuff.

Many times, however, my finds aren't books on porn stars or pornography, but by porn stars. If you find this disturbing, know that you're not alone. Since this video (dis)graced my monitor, I've been in a battle of epic proportions. Half of me - the unreasonable, ne'er-do-well side - thinks these girls are just having fun and following the path that has been laid out for them by society. The other half feels like I should go to confession, or (at least) turn myself in for having viewed even ten seconds of this video. I mean, they put people in jail for this sort of thing, right? Shouldn't they? What are we saying about our society when we let our children wear clothing that frighteningly resembles that of a stripper? - excuse me, I mean "erotic dancer."

The parents of these seven-year-olds - yes, that's right SEVEN-YEAR-OLDS!!! - should be kicked in the ass for ever allowing this to happen. I believe in ten years, each of them will look at their seventeen-year-old, shaking their heads, wondering, "Where did we go wrong?" And if not the parents, then who? Who do we blame for this?

Seven-year-olds should be watching reruns of Hannah Montana on Disney Channel, not dancing provactive while wearing tank tops they're not even old enough to fill out (that is in no way me endorsing young kids who have blossomed early to go out and buy tank tops - no child should dress this way). Then again, Miley Cyrus is far from the best role model to have:

So who can we blame for the over-sexed generation? The parents? The media? The organization or school which allowed this? Pedophiles? The music corporation for turning innocent children into sexual objects just for the payload? I think we need to re-evaluate our own morals and our own beliefs. On Quagmire's Father

Back in the day, television was as "offensive" as it is these days. What's with the sudden boom of bitching? Have writers of television sitcoms get together and decide, "Hey, you know what would be charming? If we make an attempt to piss off every viewer group we have one at a time." I'm guessing not. I'm guessing that perhaps TV viewers have just become whining pussies who want their fifteen minutes.

Case in point, this past Sunday's episode of Family Guy entitled "Quagmire's Dad" in which the sex-crazed character's father comes to pay a visit to Quahog. Without missing a beat, Dan appears on the scene as "These Boots Are Made for Walking" plays in the background. Both Peter and Joe realize just how "gay" this is, not to mention the fact that Quagmire's father is just that - a homosexual - all the while Quagmire himself is completely oblivious to the fact. (Remember when King of the Hill did that with Dale's father?) Here's the kicker, Quagmire's father isn't gay; he's just a woman born in a man's body. Before you ask, what's the difference, just know there is a difference but I'm not going to get into it.

The usual things ensue. A joke is made. Quagmire becomes resentful. Yada yada yada. Brian returns from wherever he was hiding meets the character Ida and has sex with her. The next day, after being laughed at by Peter and Lois, Brian talks to Stewie who tells him the story of Quagmire's father who was once called Dan but now goes by the name Ida. Of course, Brian, after learning he just slept with a man, pukes. When Quagmire finds out, he beats the shit out of Brian, who in the end, rather bluntly says, "Hey. I fucked your dad" before slamming the door.

So what's the problem? Zoe from Tumblr says this:

There has never been an episode (save the 150th episode) of Family Guy that has ever left me moved, or gave you a moment of clarity. When Peter realizes that plastic surgery was helping him out in all the wrong ways only to crash into a lard factor where he drinks every once, Lois asks him if he's learned from his mistakes to which he replies, "Nope." Roll credits. Family Guy isn't The Simpsons. It isn't King of the Hill. It isn't even South Park. It's not supposed to be anything other than dick and fart jokes mixed in with serious topics. The characters never really learn their lessons. Sure there are moments of where some ounce of truth that spills - like that Meg episode where Brian teaches her the true nature of the god concept - but it's not exactly the ending of the Futurama episode, now is it? Rather than repeating a valuable lesson, the episode cuts to Adam West and Rob Lowe.

Timing is crucial in writing and in humor, and the airing of this episode comes in with precision timing to recent issues. Rather ENDA or mixed views, protests, and praises of Ticked Off Trannies with Knives there is a lot of focus lately on the transgender community (sad to speak because of attention that should have been paid in earlier times and wasn’t ie. murder rates).

I don't think the writers of the episode had any of those in mind when writing the episode. The fact that it was aired on Mother's Day was just icing on the cake. How do you celebrate Mother's Day when you wake up to find out your father is not a transgender? There's the joke. That's all Family Guy is, a joke.

So what's my take of the episode: Nothing. The world is shit and Family Guy just reenacts that with dick and fart jokes. The only thing that Seth Macfarlane has done that I find offensive is The Cleveland Show. Not because it's offensive in nature, but offensive to the word comedy.

Playboy in 3D

In the past year, there has been a sudden boom in 3D movies. And why not? The technology is more available now than it had been in the past. And, of course, the movie goers don't look like schmucks over paying to see the latest Tim Burton crapfest.

And not only are films being released in 3D in theaters, but they're now available to bring home in said format. It wasn't so when I was a kid and Freddy's Dead VHS release was simply in 2D, still teasing us with its cheap plot that included the red and blue glasses. Couple those 3D DVD with a 3D TV, and you got yourself a whopper of a deal.

It was only time before another media medium jumped onto the bandwagon of 3D mania. And it wouldn't be the first time. I recall an issue of Disney Adventures releasing a 3D issue and I was giddy with joy - don't ask, my childhood was quite strange. Now in my adulthood, I heard that Playboy will be releasing its June 2010 edition (out on Friday) in 3D.

The magazine's June edition hits newsstands Friday equipped with 3-D glasses. Now the toy that has kids dodging dragons, meatballs and tall blue aliens at the movies will help adults focus on what is, at first glance, a very blurry Playmate of the Year.

Many times, it's for the "lulz" and revenge or - most of the time - money and fame. But how many times does a porn star get to make a movie about her (alleged) affair with pro golfer, Tiger Woods?

That's exactly what porn star Joslyn James is doing in the Vivid [NSFW] film (released under their Vivid Celeb [NSFW] banner) entitled The 11th Hole. According to the press released from Vivid Video, the pornographic film will feature "never-before-told intimate details of her three-year relationship with the golf champion" and will garner "a great demand for this film because we think it will tell the real story behind Woods' voracious sexual appetite and the women who satisfied it."

I'm not familiar with Joslyn James - or her alias Veronica Siwik-Daniels, for that matter - nor have I paid much attention to the whole Tiger Woods scandal. Frankly, while I tend to write a lot of about celebrities on this blog, I'm not gaga over them like most people are. Sure, their scandals are more public, but they're human in the end, right? Beside that fact, I'm sure The 11th Hole will be the to-watch porn of the decade. Or at least until Lindsay Lohan releases a sex tape.

In other sex tap news, Kendra Wilkinson graces the cover of OK Magazine on the subject of her current sex tape scandal. Kendra's rep confirms that the sex tape exists, stating "Kendra’s attorneys are currently evaluating and pursuing Kendra’s rights with respect to the purported video and any third parties involved in the possible sale, reproduction or distribution of the same" (OK Magazine).

New Sensations presents The Romance Series

At the beginning of the year, I asked - what I think was - a very important question: Where have all the pornographers gone? I still haven't received an answer. The closest thing that came to answering my prayers of porn returning to its former self was a director named Eon McKai, whose DeviantArt/Suicide Girls-esque pornographic "art films" were first introduced to me.

Tonight, however, while I was playing with StumbleUpon, I came across The Romance Series [NSFW] from adult film company, New Sensations [NSFW]. While the trailer leaves much to the imagination - which I'm using at this moment - I've deduced that the films released by Romance Series are akin to episodes of Bliss, only with actual sex.

The trailer (embedded above) for An Eternal Love 2: Reckless Love (to be released on 17 May 2010) features well know porn stars such as Lexi Belle and Faye Reagan. This begs the question whether porn stars are up to actual acting, and how well they can perform.

And, of course, the question remains - beside the obvious, how do these films differ from other porn flicks? For starters, the scripts are written by females (though they are still directed by men). But the biggest plus - and they are a few listed on the site - is that these films are couple orientated. Which means, you'll probably have an easier time convincing your girlfriend to watch one with you. Here's to hoping.

I don't know what's worse - the fact that Radar Online is speculating whether the Chelsea Handler "sex tape" isn't a joke, or the fact that I'm just hearing about this. I love Chelsea. If I could, I'd stalk her. But I don't have the means, time or money to do so - and besides, I'm sure the girlfriend wouldn't be too pleased by that.

But this is Chelsea Handler, people. The queen of raw, crude, unadulterated humor. With book titles like My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands, Are you there, Vodka? The video then cuts off to an explicit sex act where Handler appears complete nude, looks in the camera a few times - and, apparently, the guy is British (as if that's somehow important) - before cutting back to her routine.

Chelsea openly admitted that the tape was a joke, an old demo, she used as auditions to find work. It doesn't surprise me at all. And I don't think that Radar has any real merit to disprove this. I mean, this is Chelsea Handler we're talking about - the lady has a no-holds-barred sense of humor, damn the consequences. And that is why I we love her.

I think it's safe to say, logic - in the case of Momlogic - is used rather loosely. Whenever I stumble upon an opinion from the website for idiot mothers who can't think for themselves, I cringe. There is never any sense to back up what they believe - from the insensitive miscarriage post to their bickering about how teens are far to sexual for their own good - which, they are, but Momlogic never provides any real advice for the brainless mothers who read the blog - let's not forget their disgusted reaction to the artist who painted his (legal aged) daughter in the nude, shall we?
